Make checks payable to Valerie Parker.

Canadian entrants – please send entry fee in the form of an international money order or cashier’s check in US funds drawn on a US bank.  This is very important, as my bank will charge me $7.50 to handle funds not drawn on a US bank.

Awards:

Custom designed paper ribbons for 1st-6th place.  Custom commercial rosettes will be used for championship awards.  There will be special awards for the fun classes.

The Queen City Classic has applied for NAMSHA membership for the open classes.  If approved, entries that place either first or second in any of the Open Divisions will earn qualifications for NAN 2008/2009.  Please refer to www.namsha.org

Entries that place either first or second at this show will be eligible to compete at the next Region 10 Regionals Show.  Visit  www.region10regionals.com for further information.

This show is a participant in the brand new NY Thruway Series.  We will be keeping track of points and at the end of the season, at Region 10 Regionals V, we will award High Point Awards for horses/owners who competed at these shows.  The show series will include:  Lilac City Live, Queen City Classic, Niagara Thunder, Empire Live and a show in the Albany, NY area (if we can find a hall in time!).

Novices

Classes in the Novice division are not NAN qualifiers. For this show, a novice is defined as someone who has been live model showing for less than two years and has not won a champion or reserve at an open show.  Youth showers age 16 and under are welcome to show in the Novice division regardless of number of years they have been showing.  Novice halter classes are judged on breed standards only and are open to OF plastic models only.  Test runs, raffle models, OOAK’s, connoisseur series, and other rare models cannot be shown in the Novice breed classes.   These horses must be shown in the Novice collectibility class only and are not eligible for overall championships.  Also, the novice collectibility class is not eligible for Thruway Series high points.

The Region 10 Novice Performance Program

This show is a participant in the Region 10 Novice Performance Program.  A variety of tack, props, and models will be available for novice entrants to borrow to use in novice performance classes.  There will be a “designated helper” on hand to assist with any questions about tack fit and appropriate set-up.

Halter Class Guidelines

Entrants may show up to three horses per halter class.  Additional horses may be entered for $1.00 per horse.  Place the horse and the dollar on the table.  The show hostess will collect the dollars. Proceeds will be donated to Region Ten Regionals. Halter classes will be double-judged for breed standards and either collectibility or workmanship.  This means that for halter classes, horses can potentially win two ribbons in the same class – one for breed and one for collectibility or workmanship.

  1. Halters are optional for breed classes.  If you do use a halter, be sure it is correct for the breed and fits the model correctly.
  2. One breed class per horse.
  3. Short paragraphs and reference photos are encouraged for rare breeds.  Size not to exceed 8 ½ x 11 inches.  Please do not place books on the table.
  4. Index cards and COA’s are encouraged for collectibility.  Index cards are strongly encouraged for Stone horses.   A good reference site for Stones is www.stonehorseref.com

Original Finish – is defined as any model that is mass-produced at a factory (i.e. Breyer, Stone, Hartland) and has not been altered in any way after leaving the factory.  This includes but is not limited to the use of spray polish, applying black polish to hooves, or adding a glossy finish to a matte model.  Touch-ups are permitted if not obvious.

Custom Models – are defined as any model that has been changed from its original form in any media.  These classes also include models made by hand, and china custom glazes.

Artist Resins – are defined as any model, regardless of number in run, which has been home or professionally cast.  Original Sculptures also qualify for the resin division.  Resins that have been altered after casting still enter the resin classes.

OF China – any factory produced china, porcelain, cold-cast porcelain, or resin models show in the china division.  This includes Hagen –Renaker, Japan chinas, OF Breyer porcelains, North Lights, BHR resins, Border Fine Arts, the Starlite Collection, and H&H Winner’s Circle OF Resin Line.

Performance Class Guidelines

Entrants may show up to two entries per performance class.  For any set-up with more than one horse – tag only ONE horse.  This horse will be listed in the results and will be the horse to earn the NAN qualification. The remaining horses are considered props.  There is an 8-minute limit to set up performance entries.  Performance classes will not be held for late entries.

  1. All classes (except pleasure classes) MUST have a card explaining what the model is doing.  If there is no card with the entry, it will not be judged.
  2. Riders/handlers are optional (except for showmanship).
  3. Please do not use any solid backgrounds.  The horse must be visible from all sides.
  4. Props/backgrounds are not permitted in pleasure classes.
  5. Calf/animal is required for any cattle work.
  6. Cart and driver are optional for harness.
  7. State level and movement for dressage.
  8. State type of outfit for costume.

The Turtle Memorial Fun Classes

Many former entrants may remember me talking about my beloved cat, “Turtle” during the show.  Turtle was a stray Maine Coon cat that I adopted and we enjoyed 10 wonderful years together.  Unfortunately he passed away from cancer this past September.  As a way to honor his memory, the proceeds from the fun classes will all be donated to a cat rescue organization.  I will personally match the funds raised during the fun classes.  The fun classes are going to follow a new format this year.  There will be an entry fee of $1.00 per entry per class, or unlimited entry for a donation of cat food or cat litter.   All Fun classes including the Collector’s Class are NOT NAN qualifiers.  They are open to both Novice and Open entrants. Fun classes will be run throughout the day. Special awards will be given to the winners of the fun classes.

Tags

Each shower is responsible for creating her/his own tags.  Avery tags #11062 or equivalent (1 ¾” to 1 3/32” in size) white and stringed should be used.  These can be found at any office supply store.  On the front of the tag should be:

Breed, gender, and horse’s ID number

The ID number includes your 3-digit exhibitor number (000) and the 3-digit number you assign your horse (001).  It will look like this- 000-001. Please be sure to put your exhibitor number first, followed by the horse’s number.

To get a shower number you must contact the “keeper of the numbers”, Larry Nichols at lnichol2@nycap.rr.com or 518-793-2729.  In your email put your name and email address and request a Region 10 exhibitor number.  Please be patient when waiting for a response as it may take more than one day to get a response.

**Please turn in a list of horses no later than August 15, 2007.  It is OK to mail your entry fee and email me the horse list at a later date.  Day of show additions are permitted.  Sending me horse lists prior to the show means quicker generation of results.  The list should look similar to this:

Horse Number

Horse Name

Breed

Gender

Finish

Please list horses in numerical order.
